Every year, The Pantone Color Institute selects a Color Of The Year, to set a color story for the year to come. 2020’s has been named the year of Classic Blue – shade PANTONE 19-4052 to be exact. As Pantone stated, “A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”
While blue has always been a popular wedding color – especially paired with blush – I’m expecting this shade to be a huge hit in 2020. How do you incorporate Classic Blue into your wedding without it taking over the whole wedding design? In today’s blog post, I’m going to give you great ideas and examples to incorporate Classic Blue into your wedding so your modern wedding can pop!

Blue Tablecloths
If you love blue, just embrace it and go super modern with this great linen from Nuage Designs! This fun pattern adds that touch of Classic Blue, with some touches of yellow and teal, so you can tie in a variety of colors in your flowers. Or, you can always opt for a simple blue table linen, without a pattern.
A Classic Blue Wedding Gown
Why not just go bold and wear a blue wedding dress? Ivory, blush, and cream have all been done. Why not blue? I absolutely love this Robin-Eggs blue gown by Oscar De la Renta from their Fall 2020 collection. It features tiers of tulle for a dramatic effect, in the perfect ombre, with shades of blue. It’s not just a nod to your something blue – it’s a modern twist!
Velvet Blue Heels
If a blue wedding gown isn’t your thing, you can easily incorporate it in your shoes! Velvet is making a huge comeback, and these blue velvet heels by Manolo Blahnik are stunning.
One of my favorite clients – this fall bride loved the color blue and wore these AMAZING heels on her wedding day. They added a beautiful accent that stood out against her cream dress.

Your photographer can use it in their getting ready images, as well as flat lays of your stationary. I LOVE ring boxes from The Mrs. Box. They’re individually handmade using the most delicious velvet. Plus, they come in SO many colors!
Blue and Gold Accessories
For a modern alternative to flowers and hair combs, opt for this sleek gold headband! It’s adorned with gallery-set aquamarine Swarovski crystals for that perfect bit of sparkle! This headpiece by Oscar De La Renta would also make an amazing gift for your bridesmaids, and give them a touch of blue!
