5 Striking Spring Wedding Colors in 2022

March 10, 2022

< back to blog home

I know I am not the only one looking forward to warmer weather and the start of the next wedding season, right? As a Rochester wedding planner, spring weddings often “start the season” and always bring me a fresh bout of energy watching the wedding designs and plans I've helped couples with for the past year start to come to life. Whether you are in the home stretch of wedding planning in 2022, or are recently engaged getting a head start on your 2023 spring wedding vision, today I wanted to share a few of my favorite spring wedding colors for 2022 and 2023!

Before we dive into our favorite spring color trends, a quick introduction in case you are new to Verve Event Co. I'm Desiree – lead wedding planner and designer behind the brand, and my team and I specialize in planning and designing heirloom occasions (like your wedding day) all around Upstate New York: from Hudson Valley to the Finger Lakes. If you are a busy couple looking to plan a wedding day that feels just like you in an elevated, once-in-a-lifetime kind of way, you can learn more about working together here.

Or, if you are trying to DIY-it-all (at least for now), make sure to listen to our “Ask the Planner” podcast, and shop beautiful, easy-to-use wedding planning templates here. Now, let's get back to what you came here for: 5 striking spring wedding colors to consider for your 2022 or 2023 wedding!

Coral

In 2019, Pantone announced their “Color of the Year” to be Living Coral. Although the pandemic makes 2019 feel like a million years ago, Coral is still one of my favorite spring wedding colors for couples looking for something bold, bright and HAPPY. Whether you go bold or choose a lighter shade, coral is welcome and vibrant addition to a spring wedding color palette.

Periwinkle

Periwinkle is officially the color of the year for 2022, and although it can be a little trickier to execute on a wedding day, the results are worth the effort! For spring especially, Periwinkle sits on a delicate balance of subtle, yet strong. It can quickly overpower your wedding design, or it can be washed out very quickly. To make it a little easier to execute, make sure to check out this post here for a few tips on where to use Periwinkle in your spring wedding design!

Goldenrod

I always love a cheerful yellow in the springtime (or really – anytime). Goldenrod is such a pleasant and versatile yellow to infuse in your florals, wedding cake, invitations – the options are truly endless! Truthfully, yellows are some of the most under-utilized shades in wedding color palettes which means they can really surprise and delight your guests!

Peach

Although peach is perhaps the most “traditional” spring color on this list, don't think for a second that this softer hue can't pack a punch! For this rooftop micro wedding in Brooklyn, peach brought such a warmth to the overall wedding design and was simply stunning. Would definitely recommend!

Aqua

Last (but not least!), we have Aqua. Although blue has been a popular wedding color palette addition for many years, I don't see “something blue” going away anytime soon. To avoid the more overdone shades (like dusty blue & navy), choose a more subtle shade like aqua as a softer addition to a fun spring wedding color palette!

BONUS: Use Grey as your Neutral

You might not first consider your “neutrals” as part of your overall wedding design, but trust me when I say that's a missed opportunity! You don't need to go over-the-top with white (always a wedding favorite) or as dark and dramatic as black accents can be (especially if you don't want your wedding to feel super formal!). Using grey in your wedding design is often unexpected, but can be a fun way to add some modern touches to your overall wedding design!

Creating Your Spring Wedding Mood Board

I hope that this inspires you to think outside the “pastel box” of spring wedding inspiration you might find on Pinterest or Google. Seriously. As much as I think white and greenery weddings are gorgeous, I personally love working with couples to design something true-to-them and unique enough to wow them (and their guests!). There are SO many options for your spring wedding colors, but I hope these 5 shades give you a jumping off point to get excited about. Although working with color can be a little intimidating, I am here to virtually help you every step of the way! You can find almost daily inspiration over on our Instagram, or shop our wedding planning templates here for a little extra support. It's okay to get help doing something you've never done before!
