Read this before you talk to your florist! Today on the blog, we are bringing you 4 ways to elevate your wedding flowers in 2022, 2023, and beyond. Listen, we know that your wedding florals are likely a large investment. Yes, you might be able to find floral alternatives, faux flower ideas, and ways to try to cut down on this expense, but as New York wedding planners we can confidently tell you – nothing adds to the overall ambiance the way an abundance of florals does. Over-the-top wedding florals still take my breath away after all of these years (and if we haven't met yet – hi, I'm Desiree – and I've been doing this for longer than my skincare routine would have me admit).
Here at Verve Event Co., we know that our couples are planning heirloom occasions. We help our couples plan beautiful and modern wedding days (with all the best that New York has to offer!) while ensuring that nothing we design can ever be looked back on as “trendy.” Today, we are sharing 4 ways to elevate your wedding flowers that follow the fun and modern aesthetic our couples are loving while feeling confident these will remain timeless.

Floral Chandeliers
Floral chandeliers have become all the rage over the past few years and I totally understand why. Not only do they draw the eyes upward and give some texture to the overall look, they're absolutely stunning! When it comes to your wedding flowers, consider including a statement piece beyond your traditional wedding reception decor. I can hardly imagine anything more statement-piece worthy than a floral chandelier. Whether they hang over the reception tables or over the dance floor, there is no doubt that your guests will be admiring them all night long.
Playful Color Arrangments
Move over white florals and greenery! We have been calling for an end to this for a while now. If you really want to elevate your wedding flowers (and create something unique to YOU and not just a version of something you saw on Pinterest), mixing bright and bold colors when it comes to floral arrangements can really elevate your wedding design. Colorful florals can create a beautiful and playful atmosphere that is outside of the traditional wedding norms.
If you aren't already drawn to a specific color palette (or even if you are!), make sure to ask your wedding florist what's in season. You can have a lot of fun with your floral arrangements and make colorful wedding flowers the focal point of your wedding design without blowing your wedding budget!
Organic Floral Arrangements
Another trend in wedding flowers has to do with the more organic way of arranging flowers that we're seeing on design boards lately. In this style, flower arrangements are not perfectly shaped clusters. Instead, the florals and greenery are arranged similarly to how they may look in nature. Whether you are talking about a bridal bouquet or a centerpiece, wedding flowers are blooming in different directions, creating a lot of dimension and contrast that pairs together beautifully. These organic floral arrangements make for a very natural, effortless vibe. More of our couples are asking for “luxury that doesn't feel too formal” and these organic arrangements fit the vibe.
Wedding Greenery. Everywhere.
Lastly, when you don’t know what’s missing, just add greenery! Even though we are loving the addition of colorful, organic arrangements and statement pieces, greenery is not going anywhere anytime soon. Greenery has quickly become the biggest accent piece when pairing any floral arrangements together. Whether it’s a tabletop arrangement or having your greenery drape along the side of something (like a sign or wall), it adds such an elegant touch. It brings the outdoors inside and creates such a bright and uplifting atmosphere. If you are looking to add a little extra in your wedding design, a pop of greenery just completes the look.
Choosing Your Wedding Flowers
When it comes to your wedding flowers, we have two last pieces of advice for you as we head into 2022. First, make sure to hire a wedding planner before you book your florist. They really will guide you both in knowing the right questions to ask and help you create a cohesive look on your wedding day. Your wedding day is a big investment, this is not the place where you want to hold back. A wedding planner helps you make the most of your budget (whether your budget is $75,000 or $250,000+).
If you're planning a wedding in Upstate New York (Rochester, Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley, or beyond!), we would love to hear from you.
