Wedding Disasters and How to Avoid Them (Vol.2)

October 30, 2023

< back to blog home

Happy Halloween! Today’s episode is a special Halloween edition. I’m sharing wedding disasters and how to avoid them. I am sharing HORROR stories – from a recent wedding. Not only are they going to make you cringe and be happy you weren’t there, but I’m also going to give you some tips to make sure you avoid this happening at your wedding. To clarify you would have NEVER known that anything went wrong at this wedding. It’s still one of my favorite and most beautiful weddings. But after that wedding, I seriously questioned how much longer I had in this business because I just felt so defeated.

Thank you to our podcast sponsors!

If you’re new to the show, Welcome, Welcome. I’m so glad to have you here for the podcast season 4. Are you newly engaged? Engaged to be engaged? Is your wedding this winter or fall? Or are you a wedding vendor? I’d love to know!

Leave me a message when you drop your review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Also, take a screenshot and tag me, or take a picture of you listening in the car. I’m always so curious to learn more about all of you that tune in. Leaving a review helps independent shows like ours get found by other people and I want to be able to serve as many people as I can with all of our free help and content.

Well, that wraps up today’s episode on wedding horror stories! I hope you enjoyed listening to our re-cap of one of the most stressful weddings we’ve had to date. But it’s okay now that we’re on the other side and everything turned out well. Hopefully, you can tell from our laughter that we’re mostly over our PTSD from the wedding.

Again, this wedding demonstrates just how much can happen at a wedding. When you hire a wedding planner to make sure your plans fall into place, you’re not only hiring them for their skills and experience as a planner but also to protect your investment.

I truly hope all of our pain and discomfort benefits you and your wedding in some form or fashion.

If you have follow-up questions or want me to talk more in-depth with me or Ali, please leave the podcast a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts, your question, and your Instagram handle and we’ll address it in a future episode and follow you back! You can also leave an anonymous voicemail on our wedding planning hotline at 585-210-3467.

If you’re a newer wedding planner eager to learn how you can take your business to the next level, you can learn about my new coaching service at verveeventco.com/coach and we can have a strategy call to identify what your business needs most and how you can get there.

That's all for today’s special Halloween Horror stories episode. I hope you laughed and learned something while we revisited this nearly traumatic day. If you’re listening live, I hope you have a wonderfully spooky Halloween.

I LOVE Halloween, so if you dressed up this weekend or you’re dressing up tonight, I would love to see it! Please tag me on IG and I will be sure to share it (if you want to me, of course).

My daughter this year is going as Wednesday Addams. My husband and I were Morticia and Gomez Addams last year but my son is being a poop and wouldn’t dress up with us. He doesn’t really identify with Pugsley. I get it. I’m still holding on to my dream of all of us going as the Addams Family one year.

This weekend we drove to little Abingdon, VA, a small town in Southwest Virginia where I grew up for my high school reunion. We won’t say which year it was. During our 12-hour drive, we were listening to some Halloween music and my daughter said, ” Mom, do you know what we should all go as for Halloween next year?”

Alvin and the chipmunks! I’m still holding on to my Addams Family dream, but I’m quite excited if we actually go as Alvin and the Chipmunks next year. My husband Mike is excited b/c he can be Dave which requires minimal effort. I’ll probably be Simon since I’m the taller of the 3 of us, and my son Ciaran will be Alvin and Isla will be Theodore, but they might fight over that, so we’ll see.

Thank you all so much for joining me today. I love spending time in your earbuds and hearing your thoughts on the podcast in your reviews. To connect even further, make sure to follow me on Instagram at @AsktheplannerPodcast

Until next time, may your wedding be as magical and spook-free as possible.
