about the event
Ashley and Nick’s lakeside wedding at the Inns of Aurora was inspired by retro Slim Aarons photography and the carefree spirit of summer on the lake in Upstate New York, bringing together a kaleidoscope of color, pattern, and nostalgia.
Every detail reflected their story: Ashley’s love of needlepoint and Nick’s baseball collection appeared in stitched borders and custom touches, while patterns echoed the blooms from their Pennsylvania engagement. The design was a joyful nod to mid-century Palm Springs, with warm sunset shades of yellow, orange, and raspberry pink balanced by lake-inspired greens, blues, and periwinkle.
Scalloped edges, cabana stripes, and whimsical umbrellas set the scene for a lakeside ceremony filled with lush, colorblocked florals. Guests mingled beneath playful umbrellas and bistro lights at cocktail hour, enjoying Hugo Spritzes, Freehand Old Fashioneds, and bocce with the lake as a backdrop.
A favorite element was the interactive escort card display—a retro hotel check-in desk where a member of our team welcomed each guest and presented them with a vintage-inspired boat keychain as their escort card. It was a personal touch that set the tone for a celebration as unique and welcoming as Ashley and Nick themselves.

Our wedding planning era was not stressful. We hired Verve because they specialize in weekend events at the caliber we wanted—especially the small details that make a wedding feel personal. We wanted our wedding to feel like us, and it did! Verve handled the day-to-day so we could enjoy the process. After more than two years of planning, there was no worry that the final product would be exceptional. Everyone should let Verve plan the entire weekend—it goes by so fast, and you never have to worry about the little things because Desirée and her team have already thought of them 20 minutes before the most Typa A person would!
