Emily & TOm

The inns of aurora

Emily and Tom met on a blind date. At the time, Emily was about to start grad school and decided she wasn’t ready to jump into a relationship, so she put Tom out of her mind for the time being. As fate would have it, six weeks later she found herself thinking about that date and wondering what happened to him, so she reached out and the rest was history. Tom proposed to Emily while on a date at the Natural History Museum. He hid the ring inside a bag with Levain Bakery cookies, which was incorporated into their escort card display.

The wedding weekend started with a gorgeous welcome party at the Rowland House. The design mimicked a relaxed afternoon in an English garden playing croquet and lawn games under the shade of a tent.

Emily and Tom's wedding design was inspired by her love of lilacs, Jane Austen, Harry Potter, and the English countryside. Their ceremony music was performed by a cello duo and included songs from “The Hobbit,” “Yellow” by Coldplay, and “I Ain’t Worried” by One Republic.

The modern spring color palette was inspired by the early 19th century English countryside, an era when people passed their time with walks in the garden, picking wildflowers, or reading books in the shade. It was the perfect inspiration for this sweet wedding day.

We knew early into our engagement that we wanted to hire a wedding planner. Before we hired Verve, we had no idea how to execute anything we wanted for our wedding. Desirée was the only planner we met with before hiring. It was clear she was the best person to help us. She made us feel special and thought of. Her ability to listen to us and create a design that matched us as a couple, and then execute it was amazing. During the planning process, we didn't feel judged for asking questions, making requests, or worrying about things that seemed small. Desirée carried the worry for us so that we could enjoy planning our wedding planning. At the wedding, people said it was honestly perfect and the most beautiful wedding they have been to. If you're considering her, just hire her!

"It was honestly perfect. Truly the most beautiful wedding."
