Background

Thank You

First, THANK YOU! Thank you for listening to the podcast! I've been working hard to revamp the podcast think you'll love the new format.

About Me

If you're new to the podcast, I’m the owner of Verve Event Co., a company whose mission is to ensure its couples enjoy planning the contemporary, sophisticated wedding they’ve always imagined.

I’ll get into my whole background and story in the next episode, but to give you a quick summary, I’ve been planning weddings and events since 2007 officially. I’ve planned events with budgets in excess of 2 million dollars, including an Inaugural Ball, have worked with celebrities, dignitaries, and heads of state including former presidents and first ladies, and my work has been featured in numerous outlets including the Today Show, New York Mag, and several blogs.

But enough about me! Let’s get to the podcast.

Why the Facelift?

I first started Ask the Planner as a micro-podcast and Alexa Flash Briefing because I wanted a way to share all my wedding and event planning knowledge and wisdom from these past 13 years with as many of you as possible.

I would be talking to you guys over DMs or out somewhere about one of your questions and just want to share as much as I could on every topic.

I realized that what comes as second nature to me wasn’t as obvious to others.

So I created the podcast to offer you real, tangible advice from ACTUAL wedding experts who’ve planned or worked on gorgeous, luxury weddings and had smiling, excited, and overjoyed couples.

Yes, you can read blogs (I have a really good one, if I do say so myself), but I sometimes feel like the content in these blogs is just a lot of fluff.

Or some of the stuff just feels so obvious to me. I wonder if it’s really providing value to anyone.

In this podcast, I’m going to dig deeper. I’m going to get into the nitty-gritty so you can feel like you have an expert (or a team of experts since I interview lots of guests) that tell you how it is.

We’re going to be honest and upfront with you. And the awesome thing is we’re actual wedding planners and florists and photographers and makeup artists.

We’ve had it rain on us 7 inches the day before load-in began and the venue was a muddy hole and the wedding was still a huge success.

We’ve had people ask us to make weird flavored cakes and learned from the experience.

We’re going to talk about hard experiences so you can learn from them. But we’re also going to have fun, too!

Why This Show?

At the end of the day, I believe life’s too short to waste it on experiences that don’t give us joy. I think that wedding planning, . . not just your wedding . . . . should feel exciting and happy. It should be fun.

For me, your wedding is part of the legacy that you leave to your family and friends. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for everyone to get together and celebrate you, the hosts.

I want to inspire you with ideas that will make it really special for them and ways you can weave details about your love story into the day.

I dig into the minutiae and overlooked details with my guests so you don’t have to stress and so you can feel confident that you really do have everything taken care of.

That will give you the space to create happy memories while you’re planning and to allow you to be present and revel with your family and guests when the wedding day finally arrives.
