One of the hardest parts of managing your wedding planning business is figuring out how to market yourself. But as a wedding planner, you‘re offering much-needed services that deserve to be easily found by the happiest couples, and it’s not as hard as you might think!
When it comes to marketing your wedding planning business, it’s all about setting the right goals and leveraging your channels in the best ways. But it’s also important to remember that marketing involves a lot of testing, so understanding how your marketing is working for you is a huge part of the process.
Read on to learn more about how to market your business successfully.
Determine Your Goals First
The first step of any marketing strategy should always be setting your goals. Your goals will make it easier to choose the right marketing efforts (rather than getting overwhelmed with everything at once). Plus, you’ll have something to measure so you can understand which marketing tactics are working the best for your wedding planning business.
Some examples of marketing goals include:
- Increasing the number of pageviews on your website
- Increasing the number of new leads added to your email list
- Increasing the conversion rate from your email marketing
- Increasing the rate of new bookings from social media
- Increasing the number of new referral clients
With these goals, you can better determine which channels to use and what tactics to leverage. Next, I’ll cover the marketing efforts you can use on each channel.

Social Media
Social media is one of the best channels for wedding planners because of how visual it is. You can showcase the beautiful weddings you’ve planned as a great way to entice potential clients who are looking for the same thing. The bottom line with social media is that it lends a ton of social proof for your services.
From my experience, Instagram and Pinterest are a great fit for wedding planners, but TikTok and YouTube can also be great if you have access to video content from the weddings you’ve planned.
Here are some social media strategies for wedding planners:
- Reposting content from your clients or partner vendors
- Highlighting the different types of services you offer
- Displaying testimonials
- Linking directly to your website to allow easy booking
Blogging
As wedding planners, we all know how stressful it can be for our clients. Part of our job is to educate them and walk them through each step. Sometimes before couples are ready to invest in wedding planning services, they’re still searching for answers about what it takes to plan a wedding and what it all entails.
That’s where you come in–through blogging, you can provide educational resources for those potential clients who are looking for answers. Through search engine optimization (SEO), potential customers can land on your blogs and learn more about you.
To make sure you aren’t sacrificing any traffic, just make sure you’re capturing the people who land on your blog. That might mean including CTA buttons to book with you or using popups to capture people’s names and emails for your email list.
Optimizing Your Website
Beyond your blog, your website is a powerful tool that can be too easy to overlook. Not all wedding planners are the same, so it’s important to showcase all of the services you offer along with more of that social proof I mentioned above.
Event planning is also such a localized service, so it’s important to use your website to capture the couples in your market. Make sure your location is prominent throughout your website so your pages are more SEO optimized for your area.
Your online presence can also extend outside of your website. Your Google Business Profile and profiles on wedding directories can sometimes help you get more discovered than your website. Be sure to keep these profiles up-to-date and focused on your target market.
Networking
If you’re like me, you love that wedding planning is such a social business. We get to work closely with our clients as well as a ton of different vendors in the industry. While those connections make work fun, they can also become a great avenue for marketing your business.
If you aren’t leveraging these strategies, these might be some of the easiest marketing tactics to get started with:
- Leverage your preferred vendors – When you create a preferred vendor list, you can also ask those vendors to have you on theirs, creating a win-win system for everyone.
- Create a referral program – Ideally, we’re only working with clients once, so we can’t rely on recurring clients. But, you can definitely encourage word-of-mouth! With a referral program, your former clients can offer special discounts to their loved ones to get more clients in your pipeline.
- Attend conferences and expos – Meeting new people IRL at conferences and expos is a great way to expand your network and get more referrals. Just make sure you’re capturing emails to leverage those contacts in the long run.
Email Marketing
So many of the marketing tactics above can help you get new clients, but they can also help you get leads. As we know, wedding planning can be a luxury service that some couples are hesitant to invest in. But that doesn’t mean they can’t become clients!
As long as you’re offering easy ways to join your email list, you can share more content about your services and success stories to encourage leads to book with you.

Starting a Podcast For Your Wedding Planning Business
Podcasting might not be for everyone but it is a great way to expand your network and get your brand out there. In fact, we have one of the best podcasts for wedding planners and couples (if we do say so ourselves!). Through a podcast, you can strengthen your partnerships with some of your closest colleagues and create more word-of-mouth opportunities for your business.
Interviewing other vendors is a great strategy, but you could also share wedding planning tips, interviews with former clients, and so much more.

If you’re nervous about marketing your wedding planning business, just focus on the impact you’ve made on your clients! Your work can do a lot of the talking for you as long as you’re using the right strategies and channels.
