My Top 10 Time-Saving Wedding Planning Tools

May 6, 2020

< back to blog home

According to Martha Stewart, the average couple without a wedding planner spends 200-300 hours planning their wedding? Imagine spending hundreds of hours planning! That means countless Google searches, phone calls, and decisions to make. However, if you have a wedding planner, that goes from hundreds of hours to just a few a month. Hiring a wedding planner can ensure that you plan a beautiful day, and save hours of your time! In today’s blog post, I’m giving you an all-access pass to the top time-saving apps and platforms that my couples and I use to plan their weddings. These are apps and platforms my clients love, and you will too!

Wedding Planning Tools: Decor and Gifts

Amazon

Not only can you set up your Wedding Registry on Amazon, but you can also shop for wedding decor, too! Literally everything in the world is on Amazon and their Wedding Registry gives you a one-time 20% off registry fulfillment if you want to purchase the items that people didn’t get. You can also allow group-gifting for bigger ticket items, too!

But wait – there’s more! 😉 I also buy a ton of props and decor on Amazon, too. From table runners to candlestick holders, I get a ton on Amazon. Visit my Kit.co curated list to shop all the items I’ve handpicked for you. Seriously, this will save you so. much. time.

Etsy.com

If you want something customized or a little more special, Etsy is the way to go. I worked with this shop to customize the luggage tag escort cards that we used at this wedding shower that was published on Inspired By This!

Kit.co

Speaking of gifts, I put together a curated list of my go-to wedding welcome bag items on Kit.Co. I’ve spent a lot of time hunting for welcome bag items and pulled for you the top products we shop for all the time.

Wedding Planning Tools: Printed Goods

Minted

Minted definitely has the market cornered for wedding stationery, but for a good reason. They have hundreds of gorgeous designs for all styles and aesthetics – and they keep adding new ones all the time. I’ve looked at designs at other places like Zazzle, but they’re never as nice and end up looking generic to me.

Canva

I LOVE Canva and use it to create anything design-related. It’s full of fonts, templates, and stock images that save you time when creating design pieces, like save-the-dates, invitations, and signage from scratch. I have the paid version, but you can start out on the free version (I did for a long time). You can try Canva for free today with this link. I promise you’ll be hooked!

Paper Source

Love, love, love their paper products! From gorgeous envelopes in so many colors, to pocket folders for your wedding itineraries, they have everything. I used Paper Source in the wedding editorial pictured here that was later published on Wedding Chicks.

CatPrint

After you create the design pieces and order the paper, you need a quality, but economical, printer to produce everything. I recommend working with a professional printer like CatPrint. You upload your designs online, chat or email with a support specialist if you have any questions, and receive the items a few days later.

Their support is great and all the colors of the print pieces are correct. I’ve had items printed incorrectly or turn out not as nice when working with a shop that wasn’t a stand-alone printer like Staples. You can check out CatPrint here. They’re based in Rochester, but their business is strictly online (but thanks for supporting a Rochester business if you do use them!)

Wedding Planning Tools: The Tech

Trello

Trello is THE platform my clients and I use to organize our growing to-do list. It’s also what we use to communicate. It frees up our inboxes and keeps everything organized in one place. You can visit this blog post for more on how to use Trello for your Wedding Checklist and Timeline, as well as a video tutorial. Click here for a free month of Trello gold on me!

Spotify

If you’re thinking about playing any songs from a Spotify playlist, you need a paid plan. First, you need to download songs to your device in case you lose connection to the internet. Second, you definitely don’t want ads interrupting your ceremony processional. So getting the paid plan is the way to go! It’s inexpensive, and you will probably love it so much, you will have it on all day! And don't forget to make a playlist for getting ready to set the mood for the rest of the day!

Wedding planning can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a lot of work! Save yourself so much time with the tools and websites my couples and I have already tested out for you. And, if you liked today’s recommendations, you can check out all the other products and couples we love on my new Favorite Things page on my website! It’s a resource guide I put together because everyone asks me which companies and products my couples love and I wanted to organize it all one one page.

For your wedding registry, I recommend Amazon Registry! And if you're putting together fun wedding welcome bags, make sure to DIY your print materials using Canva, and printing at CatPrint. You can also organize your wedding using Trello, my favorite planning tool.
