They will guide you in your decision-making process and will help narrow your choices. Examples can be “Relaxed” or “formal,” “intimate,” “unique,” “jaw-dropping.” Whatever you want it to be!

Like Step One, these goals are very important during the decision-making process of wedding planning. They will provide focus and remind you of your  priorities when choosing between vendors, decor options, favors, etc. Unless you have an unlimited budget, you will need to prioritize and identify your negotiables and non-negotiables. Do you want five-star food, excellent live music, special one-on-one time with family members, for you and your future spouse to be relaxed and stress-free? Usually you can't have everything, so know what's most important to you and stick to it.

Step 3: Discuss with your future spouse your BUDGET and your GUEST LIST.

In wedding planning, these two go hand-in hand and significantly affect each other. Your budget will grow exponentially with your guest list. Know what you are comfortable spending. Many couples are opting to have a more intimate gathering in order to be able to increase their overall spending per person.

Step 4: Seriously consider hiring a wedding planner.

A good wedding planner will save you a ton of time, money, headache and stress. Once they know your goals, they can identify the right venues and vendors that fit with your vision and your budget because it’s their job to know a variety and to advise you on what you can afford and who can best execute what you have in mind.
